Riverfly surveys – During May and June 2025

We will soon tell you about a series of riverfly surveying days in May. We will be counting the number of invertebrate larvae at 4-5 different sites along the Coquet on different days during May or early June. Come and join us for your local event or travel to join us at ant of the events. Riverfly surveys are the best measure of water biodiversity and river health.

Invasive weeds survey and removal – During summer 2025

We will also soon let you know about our plans to survey invasive weeds. These plants shade out native plants (and thereby reduce biodiversity) and tend to enhance erosion (because they don’t bind the riverbank very well). CRAG will work in collaboration with the Northumberland Rivers Trust to survey and remove three key invasive weed species. The surveys and removal events will occur during July and August.
