Here we include some of the things we have produced and documents we have written. They all contribute to what we have learned about our river.

Another year of results was presented to our volunteers in March 2026. This was an opportunity for our volunteers to learn what their data means – we interpreted the data that resulted from all their hard work testing chemicals in the water.

Perhaps the major conclusions from the analysis were: (1) the main river is reasonably clean because there is enough water to dilute any pollutants; but conversely (2) some of our tributaries are polluted by a combination of sewage overflows and agricultural run-off. We were able to trace the effect of sewage overflows on E. coli levels many miles down river.

Have a look at the presentations.

By March 2025, our volunteers had collected data about water quality in the Coquet for nearly a year. It was time to feedback some of this information. We collated three presentations for sections of the Coquet – Rothbury and upstream, the middle section around Felton, and the lower Coquet at Warkworth and Amble. The presentation combined data from CRAG volunteers and from the Environment Agency all collected during 2024.
